Young mum holding a baby

Here you will find some information and services to support young parents.

Family Nurse Partnership

In Nottinghamshire, the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) supports first time teenage mums and their babies with a home visiting service. With mum’s permission, they can also support the baby’s dad and other family members. The support starts during pregnancy and continues to the baby’s second birthday, helping get them off to the best start in life.

Mothers who are 19 or younger and pregnant for the first time are offered visits from a family nurse to provide extra support, including advice on:

  • health
  • the home environment
  • education
  • employment
  • budgeting
  • child care

These involve 14 visits during pregnancy, 28 visits during the child’s infancy (between 0-1), and 22 visits when the child is a toddler.

For more information, go to Family Nurse Partnership (Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS).

Care To Learn

If you are a young parent who wants to continue with your education or training, then the Care To Learn scheme might help. It helps to pay for your childcare costs whilst you study, if you are under 20 at the start of your course.

If you’re thinking about breastfeeding, you can sign up for Antenatal BABES group.

Once you’ve got your little one, there are New Parents Group and Baby Massage sessions.
