Monday to Friday - from 9.00am until 5.00pm

Alternative Acres is a unique, therapeutic farm-based education provision in Nottingham, offering a safe, nurturing environment where young people can thrive. We work primarily with children and young people who benefit from a more personalised, hands-on approach to learning, outside of mainstream school settings.

Who We Support

  1. Young people aged 11-16 years
  2. Those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  3. Pupils struggling with mainstream education
  4. Children in care or at risk of exclusion
  5. Young people in need of emotional or social support

At Alternative Acres, we use nature-based, practical learning to build confidence, independence, and core academic skills. Learners take part in a mix of activities including:

  1. Functional Skills in English and Maths (with online support via BKSB)
  2. Animal care and therapeutic interaction with farm animals
  3. Horticulture and outdoor learning
  4. Life skills and independence building
  5. Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) support
  6. Confidence-building through structured, trauma-informed engagement
