Attenborough Church Pre-school

Overview

We are a Term-Time Pre-School with fun and engaging sessions for children from aged 2 years old to school age, established in 1961. We allow you to use your funding for all of the hours your child attends in the day with no top-up fees to pay, or you can pay our affordable fees if you are not eligible for funding or would like more hours than your funding entitlement. We ask for a small voluntary contribution towards the daily healthy snack we provide for children, which is capped at a maximum of £10 per half-term. We are an inclusive setting and we have extensive experience at supporting children with additional and complex needs. We always plan to have more staff than the minimum ratio requirements as we believe we can provide a better experience for our children and offer high-quality nurture and education by having more staff to support our children.

We aim to develop children's personal, social and emotional skills, communication and language skills, physical development skills, literacy and numeracy skills, imagination and curiosity, through a wide range of playful activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage and to promote curiosity and a love of learning.

We have an experienced Staff Team of 14 staff, 13 of whom are qualified to a minimum of Level 3, including 2 Early Years Teachers with Level 6 Early Years Teacher Status, and the Pre-School Manager with Level 5 National Professional Qualification in Early Years Leadership, and a dedicated Language Lead as well as a Level 2 Apprentice. All of our staff receive Paediatric First Aid training.

We have the use of 2 large rooms in the Village Hall and an outstanding secure garden area, including a paved area, large grass area, play house, garden beds, mud kitchen, climbing apparatus and a specific area for Forest School activities.

Our main sessions run from 9:15am to 12:15pm and 12:15pm to 3:15pm Mondays to Fridays, with a lunch club session making a full day session from 9:15am to 3:15pm.

We also run a Breakfast Club from 8:00am to 9:15am Mondays to Fridays and an After-Pre-School Club from 3:15pm to 4:30pm Mondays to Thursdays. Children taking the morning session can also stay for lunch club which runs from 12:15pm to 1:00pm. Parents provide children with a healthy packed lunch if they are staying for lunch club. If we have the availability we offer ad-hoc sessions on top of a child's regular sessions. We can therefore offer 8:00am - 4:30pm Mondays to Thursdays, and 8:00am to 3:15pm on Fridays.

We plan engaging activities to help children develop and thrive, including small group activities, PE sessions and early phonics (listening and attention skills in preparation for literacy teaching in reception).

All children have a keyperson who keep development records on their key children, and work closely with parents, but all our staff work with all the children, and get to know all the children well. This ensures we can follow a child's interest and progress their learning and development by adapting activities to suit each child's needs.

We have close working relationships with local feeder schools to ensure smooth transitions to school.

Experienced Staff also run a FREE Baby & Toddler Group where parents stay to play too, 9:30am to 11:00am on a Friday morning during term time. Entrance is free of charge, we simply ask for a donation for refreshments provided during the session.
