Bookstart

Overview

Bookstart is a national programme managed by BookTrust that encourages all parents and carers to enjoy books with their children from as early an age as possible.

Bookstart gives free books to every child in England an dWales at two key stages before school

There are two main Bookstart Packs that are gifted to children before they reach 5 years of age.

Your health visitor should give you the first pack, the second is available from daycare settings, playgroups, Children's Centres. If your child has missed out (for example a baby who has spent extra time in hospital) make sure you ask for your free packs.
Both packs are also available in all libraries for families to collect too. Packs for dual language and additional needs babies and toddlers are also available on request.
