Overview
Brighter Childhoods provides practical, personalised SEND support for children and families, with a particular focus on the Early Years. Qualified, Insured and ready to support your family needs.
Support is available for children with emerging or identified additional needs, and a formal diagnosis is not required. I work alongside parents to understand their child’s individual strengths, needs and barriers to participation, helping families identify practical strategies that can be used at home and within everyday routines.
Support can include sensory and regulation strategies, communication and visual supports, behaviour-as-communication approaches, developmental observations, parent guidance, SEND paperwork and evidence gathering, and support with the Assess–Plan–Do–Review (APDR) process and EHCP evidence.
I am an experienced Early Years practitioner and SEND specialist with Early Years and SENCo qualifications and experience supporting children and families through SEND processes.
Support can be provided in person or online, depending on the needs of the family. Please contact Brighter Childhoods to discuss your child and the type of support that may be most appropriate.

Cultural provisions
Inclusive, culturally responsive and safeguarding-aware provision. Trained in equality, diversity and inclusion and committed to ensuring every child and family is respected regardless of culture, religion, language, disability, SEND or family background. Support can be adapted around individual cultural and religious practices, celebrations, routines and family preferences. I have safeguarding training and awareness covering FGM, Prevent Duty and radicalisation, County Lines and criminal exploitation, discrimination, harmful practices and the fundamental British Values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance. I understand safeguarding reporting and escalation procedures, including when concerns may need to be referred to MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) and the role of the LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer) where concerns or allegations relate to an adult working with children. My approach is child-centred, inclusive and non-judgemental, with a focus on ensuring every child feels safe, represented, respected and included.
Dietary needs
Allergy aware, with Level 3 Food Hygiene for Catering training and training in EpiPen use and anaphylaxis awareness. Individual dietary requirements, food allergies, intolerances, and cultural or religious dietary needs can be accommodated in accordance with parent/carer instructions and the child’s individual care needs.
Food costs to be covered by family, in the home or community.
Special needs (children)
Level 3 qualified Early Years SENCo with extensive experience supporting children with SEND, including autism, ADHD, communication and language needs, sensory differences, developmental delay and social, emotional and behavioural needs. Experienced in creating and implementing individual support plans, targeted interventions, visual supports, sensory and regulation strategies and the Assess, Plan, Do, Review (APDR) cycle. I have supported families and children through the EHCP process and can provide observations and written evidence to support SEND documentation. Support is child-centred and can be provided within the family home or community, working alongside parents/carers and other professionals where appropriate. I focus on understanding the individual child, adapting the environment and activities to their needs, promoting regulation, communication, independence, confidence and meaningful inclusion.
Wheelchair access
Support can be provided to children who use wheelchairs or mobility aids within their own home and at accessible community venues. Please discuss individual mobility and accessibility requirements before booking. I use a small vehicle, so I cannot guarantee transportation of all wheelchairs or larger mobility equipment; however, I will work with families to identify suitable arrangements and accessible activities wherever possible.

Testimonials
5* - My daughter was with Emma for around a year and absolutely loved her time with her. She really helped bring her out of her shell and I noticed such a difference in her confidence. She was always excited to go and came home happy telling me about what she'd been up to. Would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a kind and caring childminder
