Calman Colaiste Kisimul College

Calman Coláiste is registered as a Specialist Post 16 institution with the DFE. It has provision for neurodivergent students with complex learning needs.  The college is located on the edge of a small village near Thorney, North of Peterborough. The college has a campus-based provision with onsite vocational learning facilities and a main learning hub, where there are four discrete learning spaces, an open plan refectory and catering provision, sensory spaces, life skills provision and a library.

A team of tutors and learning support assistants support student engagement using personalised approaches and adapted curriculum support, such as signed speech support or symbolised instruction.

The college benefits from an integrated therapeutic team, with provision for Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy and Psychology. This team provide person centred plans and direct work and interventions with the students, as well as consultation and training for the core education team onsite.

The college curriculum is focussed on the provision of functional skills and independent living skills through access to a contextual and vocational based programme. This includes:

• Functional skills

This is supplemented by accredited learning where appropriate, and students have the opportunity to access Duke of Edinburgh and outdoor learning, including leisure-based activity to support confidence and independence such as horse riding and swimming.
