Chaplaincy Services Bassetlaw Hospital

Overview

The Chaplaincy Department is staffed by Chaplains, who are both recognised by their own faith community and employed by the Trust, working across three sites – Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw Hospital, and Montagu Hospital. As far as possible Chaplains work across denominational and other faith community boundaries whilst respecting all integrities.

There are chapels at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospitals. Whilst there is no chapel at Montagu Hospital there is a quiet room available that can be accessed by contacting a member of nursing staff.

Prayer Rooms at DRI and Bassetlaw Hospital are available for Muslim patients, their families, and members of staff. This facility can be accessed quickly by contacting a member of the Chaplaincy team, or having the ‘on-call’ Chaplain ‘paged’ via the Switchboard operator.

How can the Chaplains help?

Coming into hospital for investigations, treatment, or visiting someone who is in pain or distress, can raise all kinds of questions, anxieties and fears. You may find it helpful to share these feelings with somone who has experience of working in a hospital but is not actively involved in the medical treatment and care. The Chaplains provide:

  • 24 hour service for emergencies
  • Confidential listening ear
  • Opportunity for prayer and worship, either in the Chapel or at your bedside
  • Information and support for staff
  • Resources to facilitate contact with other faiths wherever possible.
