Overview
Monday to Friday 09:00am - 14:00pm
Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease is a genetic condition that damages peripheral nerves. These nerves are responsible for passing on commands from the brain to the muscles (motor nerves) and for passing information to the brain about sensations, such as pain, heat, cold, touch, importantly for balance – where your joints are in space (sensory nerves). When these are damaged, people are said to have a neuropathy.
CMT United Kingdom is the national support group for people affected by Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT) and their families and carers. Until April 2001, we were known as CMT International UK, but changed the name in order to reflect the emphasis of our work - support for people with CMT within the UK and Ireland.
We offer a service of support, advice and information, by means of telephone contact, letters, email however you choose! We have a wide variety of leaflets available which explain many aspects of CMT. Our main means of keeping in touch with our members is through a magazine, ComMenT, published three times a year to which contributions are always welcomed.
