Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) - Nottinghamshire County

Overview

A Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) can help people with disabilities make changes to their home so they can live more independently.

You may be able to get a grant if a disability makes it difficult to use your home. The grant can help pay for changes such as ramps, wider doorways, or other adaptations.

For adults, the grant is based on income and savings. This means the council will look at your finances before deciding how much help you can get.

Disabled children under 18 can get a grant without their family's income being assessed.

The grant is paid by your district or borough council.

You will need to be assessed by an Occupational Therapist to determine the level and type of works needed in your property.

The grant is means-tested for adults, meaning your household income and savings will be assessed to determine the amount of financial support you are eligible for. However, disabled children under 18 can get a grant without their family's income being taken into account.

If you are a county council or housing association tenant, you may be able to get adaptations to your home but it may be funded differently. Contact your district or borough council or housing association for more information.
