Overview
HEART UK (The Hyperlipidaemia Education and Atherosclerosis Research Trust UK) was formed when the Family Heart Association (FHA) merged with the BHA in 2002.
HEART UK - The Cholesterol Charity - provides information on cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke, and its management by diet, lifestyle and drugs. HEART UK aims to help anyone at high risk of coronary heart disease especially families with inherited high cholesterol as in FH, familial hypercholesterolaemia, and FCH, familial combined hyperlipidaemia.
HEART UK is governed by a board of trustees which includes patients, healthcare professionals and legal and business experts. There is also an eminent medical advisory panel that includes some of Britain's leading doctors specialising in heart problems and lipid disorders.
The Digest, free to members, is published quarterly. It includes articles on medicine and science, advice on food, diet and lifestyle, recipe suggestions, news and views.
