Overview
Tuesdays to Saturdays, open from 10am to 6pm
Imbue Ventures, is an Immersive Inclusion Centre based in Derby, working with and for individuals from the ages of 8 onward. We use our "SociaLearning" and "GamEducation" approaches, to mentor in interactive core subjects, and offer a unique alternative provision; all while focusing on developing social skills, life skills and integrating with the community.
Our core values at Imbue are to create an inclusive community of young people with similar interest, where individuals can be themselves and develop their own skills through independent learning with support of mentors.
Initially, we will always suggest our Imbue Experience Course, for new students, which allows them to try out a variety of our core subjects, such as coding/Programming, Technical Repairs and Diagnostics, Design and Creativity and more; while still accessing all the inclusive social aspects of our provision. Our sessions are typically two hours long and are designed to inspire the growth of confidence, independence, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills, through immersive experiences.
All of our group sessions have a mixture of ages and abilities, where sessions sizes typically have a maximum of 10 students. We strive to maintain a high ratio of young people to mentors in our sessions, and can provision bespoke, 1 to 1 and other additional support packages to suit the student’s needs.
Our main core subjects are:
Programming and Coding
- Understanding concepts of programming including variables, functions, methods, iteration and classes.
- Designing and writing program code in block and text-based languages.
- Fundamentals of computational thinking, including algorithms, problem-solving, and decomposition.
Design and Creativity
- Develop skills in Game development, Game Design, and software creation
- Build and enhance their creativity, with 3D design, graphics design and media editing.
Technical Repairs and Diagnostics
- Understanding computer, laptop and phone hardware and software.
- Practical experience with building, maintenance and repair on technological items.
Life and Social Skills
- Creating opportunities to build and grow in confidence, increase social interactions and learn through play.
- Foster an appreciation for an inclusive community and deepen understanding regarding the requirements for everyone.
- Collaboratively share views, opinions and beliefs, in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.
We are working with multiple schools and organisations, such as Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, St Albans Academy etc to offer respite, short breaks and re-engagement programs.
Our sessions are offered as:
01 / After School Clubs
Weekday sessions that run after school hours, for those who want to continue learning and socialising even after the school day has ended. Develop skills in topics outside of the national curriculum and immerse yourself in our technology, alongside peers with similar interests.
02 / 1-1 Sessions
