Joint Carers Strategy

Overview

Do you look after someone who would struggle to cope without your support? If this sounds like you, you may be a carer.
We welcome the publication of our new Joint Carers Strategy which sets out what we will do together to improve the health and wellbeing of all unpaid carers across the whole health and social care system in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County over the next 5 years.
The strategy can be accessed by clicking here.

Joint Carers Strategy Progress Report 2024 - 2025
The strategy has been co-produced by:

Carers from Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County
Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils
Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board (ICB)

Carers have worked with us to create ten key components of the strategy. They have formulated "I" statements which describe what good services and support should look like for carers.
‘I want to be involved in decisions affecting my cared for at all stages and by all professionals/services involved.'
In response to these "I" statements, the partner organisations have developed "We"
statements to say what they should be doing to meet carers' needs and outcomes.
‘We will enable carers to have a voice and be listened to by professionals in agreeing care and support decisions.'
How will the strategy improve support for carers?

The ‘I' and ‘We' statements will be used to form a Carers Strategy Action Plan which will sit behind the strategy and identify the actions needed to make the strategy happen.
Adult and Children's Social Care colleagues and wider partners (including health and the voluntary sector) will commit to actions to develop and improve support for carers.
The Carers Strategy Action Plan will sit with the Nottinghamshire and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS) and partners will report to ICS Board for accountability.

If you have any questions about the strategy or the implementation / action plan and want to get involved, please email us at scandmd@nottinghamcity.gov.uk.
