Lip Reading Classes

Tuesday's 2-3:30pm

Our lip reading classes aim to to give people the confidence and skills to positively tackle the isolation experienced by people with hearing loss. Classes are informal, friendly and taught by a qualified teacher.

You will also be able to share experiences with people who have different degrees of hearing loss and pick up lots of tips and practical information to help you cope with your hearing loss.

Classes are run in 10 or 12 week terms. Contact us to find out details of our next intake.

What is lipreading?

  • Lip reading is a vital skill for people who are deaf, deafened or hard of hearing
  • It is the technique of understanding speech by visually interpreting the movements of the lips, face and tongue when normal sound is not available, relying also on information provided by the context, knowledge of the language, and any residual hearing.
