The Motability Scheme supports disabled people to lease a brand-new car, scooter, powered wheelchair or Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle using their qualifying mobility allowance.

The Motability Foundation is a charity which funds, supports, researches and innovates so that all disabled people can make the journeys they choose.
It introduces disabled people to the Scheme and oversees its delivery to ensure it offers the best choice, value for money, and customer service.

Over the past 35 years, Motability has helped over three million people get mobile by exchanging their mobility allowance to lease a car, scooter or powered wheelchair.
There is no upper age limit. As long as you receive one of the allowances, you are eligible for the Scheme. Parents or guardians can order a car on behalf of a child aged three years and above, who is receiving HRMC DLA.
To lease a car through Motability, you must have at least 12 months’ award length remaining. Only the higher or enhanced rate of the mobility allowance is used.
The Attendance Allowance cannot be used to lease a car through Motability.
The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair, using their Government funded mobility allowance.
