Nethergate School - Specialist Nottingham City Local Authority School

Overview

Nethergate School is a special school based for children aged 3 to 16 located in Clifton, Nottingham.

Alongside academic achievement, the school places great emphasis upon the development of personal and social skills. The school follows the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1 to 4. Its curriculum is shaped to support each and every student to be as independent and emotionally literate as they are able. The school celebrates individuality and diversity, both within the school and the wider community.

Curriculum

Pupils at Nethergate Academy follow curriculum pathways which provide the most appropriate approach and content to their individual needs and aspirations. The curriculum challenges all pupils to develop their understanding of themselves and others, equipping them with curiosity, self-esteem and resilience to engage with the world and make a positive contribution. We provide a flexible, relevant and personalised curriculum, which broadens experience and responds to the individual strengths and needs of the pupils we accommodate.

Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3

In KS2 children follow the Nethergate Curriculum. We have three pathways: Pre-formal, Semi-formal and Formal. Maths, English and phonics are taught daily across all pathways. Subject areas follow thematic planning with project-based topics.
