POhWER: Advocacy Services & Community, Self-Advocacy & Peer Support Groups

Overview

Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays, we are open from 9 am to 5pm.

POhWER have been providing free, independent and confidential advocacy services in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire since 2010.
We provide the following services in Nottingham City:

Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) including Relevant Person's Paid Representative Services (RPPR)
1.2 Representative
Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA)
NHS Complaints Advocacy
Care Act Advocacy
Independent Advocacy for people affected by the Transforming Care agenda
Secure Services Advocacy
Volunteer and group support
Changing Futures Independent Advocacy Service for adults in Nottingham City who experience severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD), and need help to raise an issue about services they have received, including housing services, criminal justice services, domestic or sexual abuse services, recovery providers and training providers.

POhWER runs the following monthly peer support groups:

POhWER at St Peter's Community Group: St Peter's Church, St Peter's Gate Nottingham NG1 2NW 2nd Wednesday of the month 13:30 - 14:30


Women's 'EmPOhWER Yourself' Self Advocacy Group: Nottingham Women's Centre, 30 Chaucer St, Nottingham NG1 5LP 3rd Friday of the month 13:30 -14:30


Clifton Community Group: Rivergreen Methodist Hub, Clifton, Nottingham NG11 8AU Last Thursday of the month 14:30 - 15:30

These groups are for members of the community who feel isolated, or experience mental health difficulties, to join together in a social space for a free cuppa, conversation, and learning about self-advocacy.
