All children have a named key person. This key person works closely with their key children and their parents / carers. The key person gathers information about their key child during the child's settling in visits. The key person will have an in depth discussions with the child's parents/carers to gather information about the child. This information could include observations from the parent about their child's development, routines, likes, dislikes, special people and special celebrations or events within the child's life.
If a child has an identified special need the key person will also gather information about other professionals who are working with the child.
All of this information is then used to develop a child's individual education plan.
This plan builds on the child's development and is continually reviewed with parents, through observations and discussions.
