Elderly Day Care Service
The Pakistan Centre in partnership with the City of Nottingham Adult Services Department provides Day Care provision for Muslim elders who may be suffering from physical or sensory disabilities, have mental health needs, are socially isolated, or have other health issues.
These provisions aim to promote independence, self confidence and assess needs to improve quality of life amongst the elder members of our community.
The Day Centre is open three days a week on:
Tuesday- 9.30am to 3pmWednesday- 9:30am to 3pmThursday- 9:30am to 3pm
The activities of the Day Centre include:
Chair based exercise and games encouraging gentle physical movements and social interaction
Reading and relaxation
Focus groups/talks and discussion groups in relation to health and wellbeing
Hot meals/drinks
Prayer facilities
Social outings to places such as Wollaton Park and Trent Bridge
Annually, there is an Eid Party in which the programme includes tilawat, naat and poetry, followed by a big feast.
There is also a Muslim Men's Luncheon Club which runs at the Pakistan Centre three days a week for the elderly aged over 60. This service operates a drop in and is a very popular provision reducing social isolation and promoting social capital where elders make their own way to the Centre to meet their peer group.
Transport is provided for frail and disabled persons and trained staff are available to provide assistance and support.
This provision can be accessed through normal Adult Services referral system or contact Ajaib Hussain, Day Care Services Manager on 0115 9582973.
