Vale Life & Work Skills is an independent education provider based in Whatton in the Vale, offering supportive, small-group learning for adults with learning disabilities. Our programmes focus on building confidence, communication, independence and employability skills through practical, meaningful learning, with opportunities to work towards AIM Qualifications.
Our aim is to help learners develop skills for everyday life, further learning, volunteering and employment in a welcoming adult learning environment. Enquiries and referrals are welcome from individuals, families, carers and professionals, and we are happy to discuss suitability or arrange a visit.

Course fees vary depending on the programme, length of study and attendance requirements. Please contact Vale Life & Work Skills to discuss the most suitable programme and receive current pricing information. A clear cost will be provided before enrolment.
Referral
We welcome referrals from individuals, families, carers and professionals. Following an initial enquiry, we will discuss the learner’s needs, interests, goals and support requirements and, where appropriate, arrange an informal visit. An initial assessment will then be completed to help determine whether the programme is suitable and to ensure the learner’s needs, level of support and learning style are appropriately matched to the course and existing peer group. A referral form will then be completed and, subject to suitability and availability, a placement can be agreed. All course, attendance and cost information will be confirmed before enrolment.

Special needs (adults)
Vale Life & Work Skills is specifically designed for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs. We provide small-group, person-centred learning in a supportive adult education environment, with teaching adapted to individual communication, learning and support needs wherever reasonably possible.
An initial assessment is completed before enrolment to understand the learner’s abilities, goals, support requirements and preferred learning style. This helps us determine whether the programme is suitable and ensures that the learner is appropriately matched to the course content and peer group. Reasonable adjustments can be discussed as part of the referral and assessment process.
Wheelchair access
Our building is accessible with wheelchair friendly toilets, our main classroom is on the ground floor.
SEND Local Offer
Vale Life & Work Skills supports young adults aged 18–25 with learning disabilities and additional needs as part of preparing for adulthood. We provide small-group, accredited learning focused on communication, confidence, independence and employability skills. An initial assessment is completed to ensure the programme is suitable and that the learner’s needs, support requirements and peer group are appropriately matched.
