Free NHS Mental Health Support

Adults

If you need support with your mental health, there are free local NHS services you can use by referring yourself such as:

Nottingham and Nottinghamshire NHS Talking Therapies

A free and confidential NHS service designed to help with common mental health problems such as stress, anxiety and depression. Anyone aged 18 years or over and registered with a GP can access support, though a GP referral is not necessary as you can self-refer. NHS Every Mind Matters

The Every Mind Matters website showcases simple NHS endorsed practical tips from sufferers and videos from experts on dealing with COVID-19 (opens in new tab) stress (opens in new tab)  and anxiety (opens in new tab) , boosting your mood (opens in new tab) sleeping (opens in new tab) better and what you can do to help others.

NHS endorsed Mind Plan quiz (opens in new tab)  that shows ‘there are little things we can all do to look after our mental health’.

Targeted CAMHS 0 - 18 years. For children and young people with emotional and/or mental health needs. Offers assessments, therapeutic sessions, group work, consultations to professional network.

Wellbeing Hub Nottingham

The Nottingham Wellbeing Hub makes it easier and quicker for people to get help and support they need to make their lives better.

The Wellbeing Hub brings a number of existing employment and support services under one roof. This means that people can access more than one service in one place, and ask for additional support if they feel they need it.

  • Nottingham Recovery network: Free advice, support and treatment for people misusing drugs and alcohol
  • Wellness in Mind: Free, confidential advice and concerns for people concerned about their mental health.
  • Opportunity and Change: A pathway to employment for people with multiple and complex needs.
  • Towards Work: Supporting people to overcome personal barriers to employment and training.
  • Housing Crisis Service: Advice and ssupport for people at immediate risk of homelessness.
  • Clean State: Specialist drug and alcohol treatment service for people in contact with criminal justice pathways.

Visit a Nottingham Crisis Sanctuary (6 - 11pm Daily)

The Nottinghamshire Crisis Sanctuaries (opens in new tab)  offers support, information and guidance to anyone 18 years or older in or nearing a mental health crisis.

Each Crisis Sanctuary will have 3 trained Crisis Intervention Workers who will provide recovery-focused crisis support in a trusted and consistent space for people who require out of hours mental health support. If required, onward community referrals will be made. If you would prefer not to attend the Crisis Sanctuaries, support can be provided via telephone or through video calling platforms. The Crisis Sanctuaries are for anyone near, or at crisis who need a safe space to talk

The Crisis Sanctuaries are delivered through a partnership of Framework, Turning Point and Mind, to collectively support the communities of Nottinghamshire. Further details on the partnership model are available via the Crisis Sanctuaries

Mental Health Support For Young People & Families

ASKLiON The Neurodevelopmental Pathway & Support Team (NPST)

The Neurodevelopmental Pathway & Support Team (NPST) (previously known as The Behaviour & Emotional Health Team) is the starting point of the neurodevelopmental pathway for children/young people registered with a Nottingham City GP, where there are queries regarding possible Autism and/or ADHD. The team works with families and other professionals to determine whether a referral to a Community Paediatrician is needed for a clinical assessment of Autism and/or ADHD. The team also offer post diagnostic support to Parents and Carers in the form of evidence based programmes.
