BrightTeach is an Approved Alternative Provision that offers a personalised approach to children and young people with SEND through 1:1 and small group tutoring working with children aged 4-25.
Our approach integrates social, emotional, and academic progress through consistent monitoring, attendance tracking, and regular feedback. We work collaboratively with parents and carers, the young people themselves and other key professionals to ensure our tuition is supporting the child or young person to achieve their desired outcomes.
We have experience of working with children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities and ensure we fully understand the child or young person’s strengths as well as their needs to ensure provision is delivered to meet their academic requirements and support their emotional and pastoral needs.
At BrightTeach we understand that tutors must first of all build a trusting relationship with a child or young person to support them to feel suitably regulated and ready to learn. The majority of children and young people supported by BrightTeach are provided with 1:1 tuition either in the home or other suitable venue (for example a community building such as a library or in their current school), but we can also provide online learning. Where Local Authorities or schools consider a group arrangement might support a small number of learners, we are also able to work with you to put this into place.
Our child centred approach means we are able to engage students in learning and help support their educational setting or next stage of their educational or adult journey.
We offer core academic subjects such as English, Maths and Science as well as humanities and creative arts opportunities.
We also have tutors able to offer modern foreign languages. In addition, our tutors can and do take a vocational and life skills approach, seeking to equip learners with practical skills and experiences that prepare them for future career opportunities. Tutors regularly make sessions more practical by including life skills activities such as meal planning and budgeting, time management, alongside community engagement activities.
Each child or young person will have tailored outcomes aligned with their specific needs, personal goals, and educational aspirations, as outlined in their EHC Plans, SEN Support Plans, or other relevant documentation.
BrightTeach offers comprehensive pastoral support to ensure every pupil feels valued, included, and supported throughout their learning journey. Our approach integrates behavioural guidance, mentoring, and emotional well-being support seamlessly into our 1:1 tuition.
Key elements of our pastoral care include:
- Experienced Tutors: Our tutors provide encouragement, reassurance, and a safe space to address concerns.
- Concern Management System: A documented process ensures any issues are promptly communicated to commissioning schools.
- Continuous Monitoring: We track pupil progress and well-being, ensuring readiness for reintegration or transition.
We maintain strong connections with wider support networks, collaborating closely with:
- Mainstream Schools and SENCOs: Early intervention to identify and address disengagement or struggles.
- Local Authorities: Aligning interventions with regional inclusion strategies.
- CAMHS and Mental Health Services: Coordinated support for pupils requiring additional mental health care.
- Parents and Carers: Active engagement to ensure seamless support between home and educational settings.
This multi-layered approach allows BrightTeach to create a nurturing environment while working collaboratively with wider networks to deliver holistic support tailored to each pupil's needs.
What our families in Nottinghamshire say:
"He is progressing well and always looks forward to his sessions and say they go too quickly. The tutor really understands him, has gained his trust and makes him feel safe as well as finding the best way to help him learn and build his confidence back up. She has even managed to teach him a bit of bodmas/bidmas, when maths really triggers him because of his experience in school!"
"It's so great that B is eager to now leave the house after consistently trying not to during earlier sessions."
"Since working with BrightTeach, it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off our family, and we've found something that's finally working."
"xxx and I absolutely love our tutor, and he always looks forwards to his sessions with her. She is very creative, proactive and has a good understanding of xxx needs, we look forward to many more sessions."
