Profile
I am a qualified social worker who has 10 years experience in supporting individuals and families to help make positive change. In February 2020 I decided to go freelance so I am now supporting individuals to maximise their potential and help with day to day living.
I have worked for the past 4 years in education working with 11-18 year olds - providing support with mental health issues such as self-harm, eating disorders and anxiety. I have also worked extensively with the most vulnerable children and young people who have been subject to child protection plans due to abuse: physical, sexual, emotional and neglect. Throughout this time I have supported families through difficult circumstances and helped to make positive change.
I am a registered carer for my father who has Alzheimers, and my mother who is registered as visually impaired. I am acutely aware of the impact ill health, both physically and mentally, has on an individual/family.
The clients I currently work with are wanting companionship and support with daily tasks that previously would be taken for granted, such as: transportation to hospital appointments, shopping, cooking, trips to the garden centre/theatre/cinema or support clubs. Reducing isolation is vital in order to keep up morale and a sense of worth.
I have clients that contact me directly, or members of their family who are not able to offer regular visits to loved ones due to work/life commitments and often distance plays a large part in why families can't support regularly.
I have also worked extensively with young people with learning disabilities, and young people who are not accessing school due to anxiety. I have supported with building up self-esteem, confidence and trust
I have excellent communication skills and work towards 'enabling' individuals, making day to day life easier and ultimately happier.
