Hourly rate: £18.91
We’re looking for a kind, reliable and compassionate Personal Assistant to support a lovely lady in her late 80s who is living with dementia, helping her remain safely and happily at home with her husband.
You will be joining a small, friendly care team. Another Personal Assistant already covers the weekday afternoon visits including Saturday afternoons, so this role focuses on the regular morning routine.
Hours
· Monday to Wednesday: 8.30 am – 10.00 am
· Thursday and Friday: 8.30 am – 10.30 am
· Saturday: 9.00 am – 11.00 am ( flexible).
About the Role
The role includes:
· Assisting with washing, dressing and personal care.
· Helping prepare breakfast and encouraging food and fluids.
· Prompting medication where required.
· Supporting a calm, reassuring morning routine.
· Preparing Mum for her day, including attendance at her regular activities during the week.
· Light household duties relating to Mum’s care, such as tidying the kitchen after breakfast and keeping her living area comfortable.
· Providing companionship, encouragement and reassurance.
· Accompanying her on short walks, gentle hand massages, singing along in the shower! She is a member of a well known dementia choir and she still loves to sing.
· Keeping simple records if required.
The most important part of the role is helping Mum feel safe, relaxed and valued.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
· Kind, caring and patient.
· Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
· Calm, cheerful and able to work independently.
· An excellent communicator.
· Ideally experienced in supporting someone living with dementia.
A driving licence would be helpful for occasional appointments or outings and doing errands if required.
Although the advertised hours are for the regular morning rota, we’d be delighted if the successful applicant was also willing, where possible, to provide occasional afternoon cover when the other Personal Assistant is on holiday or unwell. This is entirely by mutual agreement and would offer the opportunity for additional paid hours.
