Voices of children and young people with SEND report

Nottinghamshire County Council asked children and young people living in the county how they felt about the SEND support they receive in schools.

We shared what they told us with the Nottinghamshire County Council's SEND Accountability Board in a report. The report's goal is to help us shape future decisions around SEND services in schools.

Quotes from children and young people on why it's important their voices ae heard:

  • "Because children in most of their life do not have the voice to project their voice out to everyone else"
  • "Because you might miss something, and it might be important"
  • "I don't think we should be ignored"
  • "I think we should let people say words out loud"
  • "Children’s voices should be heard, and we might have the answers"
  • "Yes, I think they should know about what I like and things I hate but I don’t think they want to know anyway"
