SEND Local Offer - Nottinghamshire County Council's Short breaks offer

Nottinghamshire

Learn how to receive the Short breaks offer, co-produced by Nottinghamshire County Council with children, young people, parents and carers.

Short Breaks offer co-production

The Short breaks offer has been co-produced by Nottinghamshire County Council with children, young people, parents and carers.

Co-production is where families and professionals work together as equals. They share experiences, skills and influences to create services that truly work for everyone. It's aim is to ensure the short breaks support that is offered is fair and meets their needs.

This co-production approach has been jointly planned and delivered with Nottinghamshire Parent Carer Forum (NPCF)

It was the feeling that everyone involved in the project was working to find the best solution.

The people who matter were at the table, and we worked together with trust.

How is our Short break offer received?

The Short Breaks offer has an assessment to help families find out whether they are eligible for a funded short break.

The application assessment focuses on the child or young person. If they are eligible, they may receive the standard offer of £216 (24 hours), which will be in the form of a direct payment for a 12 month period.

Any short breaks pre-existing the temporary changes from 9th February 2026 72 hours or under are used as a direct payment for activities.
