About Nottinghamshire's SEND Local Offer
In September 2014, the government made a lot of changes to the way that children and young people aged 0 to 25, with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, or SEND for short, are supported. This included making local authorities produce a 'Local Offer'.
How can the SEND Local Offer help me?
The SEND Local Offer contains lots of useful information all in one website. It can help you find services available across Nottinghamshire for children and young people with SEND and their families in a number of areas.
- Education - find nurseries, playgroups, schools and colleges as well as support services like educational psychologists, early years and early intervention services.
- Health - find GPs, school nurses, therapists and mental health support.
- Social care - find short breaks and children’s disability services.
- Voluntary and private sector - find charities and disability groups.
The SEND Local Offer is also a really useful source for information, advice and guidance on topics such as:
- Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans
- support for special educational needs in schools
- preparing for adulthood.
The Young Peoples Zone

If you’re under the age of 25, have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and live anywhere in Nottinghamshire, we have a Young People's Zone designed just for you.
You can find information on:
- education
- health

How can I search for information on the SEND Local Offer?
You can search for information and services in a few ways.
Using the tiles
There are seven tile buttons on the SEND home page:
- SEND Journey Map
- Education
- Short Breaks
- Preparing for adulthood
- Things to do
- Health and social care
- Getting around
There is also a link through to the Young people's zone and Find childcare.
Each tile is topic based and leads through to an information page or directly to a category area on the directory. Once on the directory you can view a range of services, that you can then filter.
Filters
You can narrow down search results by using the filters. There are a number of different filters, which can be ticked either individually or in combination. These include filtering by:
- age band
- location
- supporting
There is also the option to add your postcode to search by distance
Directory search bar
Another option is, you can use the free text 'search' bar on the directory to find services, using keywords or titles. For example, if you are looking for 'swimming clubs' you can type this in to the search bar. You can then select the individual records of those services for further information on what they offer.
Your Notts Directory search bar
You can also search the whole Your Notts Directory website, using the free text search box, at the top of any site page. In the top right hand corner click on the magnifying glass to reveal the search box. As shown below:

You can now choose to either search for directory services or information pages.
